On November 11th, America will celebrate Veterans Day. Veterans Day is an annual holiday held in honor of the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces throughout the years. In honor of this Veterans Day, make an effort to show the veteran community how much you care by trying out some of these suggestions.
Attend an Event
One of the easiest ways to get involved this Veterans Day is by attending one of the many fundraisers, parades, or other events held to honor the veteran community. While your attendance may seem insignificant, simply showing up will show our veterans that you are thinking about them.
Donate
Another easy way to show your gratitude this Veterans Day is by donating to one of the many organizations that offer services and support to the veteran community. For instance, charities such as Operation Gratitude accept donations of goods that they then use to make care packages for veterans and other service members. Additionally, there are several organizations that are deserving of your financial donations. Some of these include DAV (Disabled American Veterans), Wounded Warrior Project, USO (United Service Organizations), and Homes for Our Troops.
Reach Out
Finally, the most direct way to show your appreciation is by simply reaching out and saying “thank you.” Many of us know someone who has served in the U.S. military, so reach out to them and tell them how much you appreciate them. Additionally, you should visit your local VA (Veterans Affairs) hospital and take a moment to thank the patients there. This Veterans Day, your words of gratitude are the best way to show your thanks to the veteran community.
