Include your home in your New Year’s resolution list

We all make plans to improve and change things at the beginning of the year. Chances are you have told yourself: “This year will be different.” Sometimes it is, sometimes it is not. Take a look at all of your past resolutions. Determine if your home was included in any of those lists. If not, make this year different and do not leave your home out when making your New Year’s resolution list.

Here are some things that should be included in your home’s New Year’s resolution list:

Reduce the fat. Cut down on your home’s bills by going green.

Homeowner’s Insurance Additions. Did you receive or purchase an expensive gift over the holidays? Make sure to add it to your homeowner’s insurance policy. Its important to document items inside your home in case of burglary or fire.

Smoke Detectors. Check batteries! Its also a great time to install a carbon monoxide detector!

Lighten the load. Free your home of unwanted and unnecessary clutter.

House cleaning schedule. Divide chores up and do a little every day and you will not feel overwhelmed.

Safety inspections. Conduct an inspection, or hire a professional, to thoroughly inspect   your home for safety concerns. Conduct any home renovations to ensure you and your family are safe.

Termite inspection. It may not feel like it, but spring is on its way, also known as termite season. This is a good time to be proactive and protect your home by getting a termite inspection. They are free and will help you prioritize future home improvement projects.

Entertain with Style. Out with the old, and in with the new! Spruce up your home by adding a new picture, a couple of decorative pillows, or maybe a new throw. A small change or burst of color will keep your home feeling inviting and new.

These simple resolutions will surely get any homeowner feeling quite accomplished during the New Year!
