Trying to eat healthier? These easy snack ideas are the perfect solution to your afternoon cravings.
We’re well into the new year, and you’re trying to keep to your resolutions. You’re likely in the groove with cooking healthy for mealtime, but what happens when you’re hankering for a snack? These easy and healthy snack ideas can help you treat your body right even when you’re craving an afternoon snack.
Mango Salad
Dice up a mango. Toss it in a bowl with a small handful of toasted coconut, some lime juice, and a small pinch of salt.
Kale Chips
De-stem one bunch of kale and tear the leaves into bite-sized pieces. Toss them with one tablespoon of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of paprika, and a pinch of salt. Coat a large baking sheet with cooking spray and bake the kale chips at 350 until crispy (12 to 15 minutes).
Banana Dippers
Slice a banana into one-inch sections. Spread a little peanut butter on the end of each piece and dip them into some granola or chopped nuts. You can also freeze for a chilly treat.
Homemade Hummus
In a food processor, combine a 15-ounce can of chickpeas (rinsed and drained) with a clove of garlic, ¼ cup of olive oil, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon of ground cumin. If you want to add even more flavor, you can add in a couple tablespoons of tahini or a pinch of paprika. Transfer your hummus to a bowl and slice up bell peppers and carrots to dip.
