Halloween Safety Tips
Halloween is a favorite holiday for people of all ages. From getting spooked at a haunted house to collecting enough candy to give you a cavity, there is plenty to look forward to during the holiday. To ensure that you are able to fully enjoy the scariest day of the year, keep these Halloween safety tips in mind.
- Try to choose costumes for your children that are light in color and reflective if possible. Make sure that they wear comfortable shoes that fit well since they will be walking long distances while trick or treating.
- Masks can easily block your kids vision while walking around. Instead, use face paint to complete the look of their outfit.
- Have your child carry a flashlight or glow stick around with them so that they are seen more easily by passing vehicles.
- Before heading out trick or treating, make sure that your cell phone is fully charged so that you can call for help if necessary.
- Teach your children to make eye contact with a driver before crossing the street to ensure that they are seen. They should only cross the street in designated crosswalks and follow all traffic laws and signals.
- Do not allow small children to carve pumpkins on their own. Instead, have them draw on a deign and cut it yourself.
- Instead of using a candle to light up your jack o lantern, use a flameless candle or a glow stick.
- Keep your walkway and front porch clear of any decorations or fallen leaves to ensure that everyone who comes looking for candy does not trip and fall.
