Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, which is the perfect time to show kids who are suffering from the disease a little extra love. More than 15,000 children under the age of 21 are diagnosed with cancer each year, and around ¼ of them will not survive the disease. Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is meant to help spotlight the types of cancer that typically affect children, survivor issues, and help raise funds for the necessary research and family support.
The American Childhood Cancer Organization acts as childhood cancer advocates around the country by highlighting individual stories of children who are suffering from the disease through their Gold Ribbon Heroes Program. They also help to register and facilitate awareness events and fundraisers at businesses and schools.
